The impact of COVID-19 on health insurance
Published: 4/09/20 (Thu)
The NDIRF has recently partnered with the Southeast Education Cooperative (SEEC) to create the North Dakota Public Health Insurance Trust (NDPHIT). The primary function of NDPHIT is to provide local governments with group health insurance and other benefit programs and services within the scope of a Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association (VEBA) trust.
Overall, NDPHIT will provide North Dakota local governments with an opportunity join together to create group health insurance and employee benefit program administrative cost stability and efficiency while also providing local governments with more control over their health insurance and other employee benefit programs. More control will, over time, provide local governments with better coverage, better service, and lower rates.
The NDIRF and SEEC are working with the health insurance consultants at Hays Companies to provide information, quotes, and enrollment services to those groups interested in NDPHIT.
Below is a link to a recent webinar from Hays Companies about the impact of the recent COVID-19 outbreak on health insurance. The NDIRF finds this information very informative and a great example of the benefits made available to North Dakota local government by NDPHIT and the NDIRF partnership with SEEC and Hays Companies.
North Dakota political subdivisions are eligible to enroll in NDPHIT effective January 1, 2021.
