HR Today and Beyond
People are the heart of local government – its most valuable resource. They are the backbone that supports its mission and purpose. Human resource management is the primary care doctor that assures a healthy government. It includes all the policies, processes, training, strategies and activities that impact staff.
The Sixth Human Resource Conference for Local Governments will be held on April 21-22, 2020, at the Ramkota Hotel in Bismarck. Registration is open at the HR Collaborative website at http://www.hrndgov.org/. Remember to register on this website to get regular HR updates.
New to the HR Conference this year is a three session, HR Track- Building your HR system that will offer new or part time HR designated staff with a broad overview of key components to HR using the newly revised HR Reference Guide for Local Governments. This session will be team taught by two long-time favorite presenters, Tanya Weiler and Chuck Horter.
Other breakout sessions will focus on technical aspects of HR including from the new FLSA exempt/non-exempt status, when and how to do HR investigations. Learn not just what you need to know but also where to go for help when you need it.
Finally, we will have sessions that help with the human side of human resources including session on building healthy workplace culture and ways to interact on difficult personnel conversations. Working with people can be difficult but small practical tips and large visionary ideas help us improve those very difficult people skills necessary to do HR.
With a range of breakout sessions, panel discussions and ample time for networking with peers from your workplace and your local communities, this conference has had rave reviews by participants.
